Yes this is an important indicator. In Hall Monitor when a teacher takes attendance they should be able to see if the student has already been marked absent and the reason for the absence.
There have been many circumstances when a student was marked as being absent and the student has decided to come to class. The teacher is not aware that the student is marked absent and office staff is not aware that the student has come to school.
In result the student is still entered as being absent even though they were present for their class.
