If a student is absent unexpected, the notification should go to the parents immediately
My daughter was marked absent unexpected from her 12:05PM class as I picked her for emergency appointment, but I received email notification at 4:40PM which is too late.
Also, when confirming the absence, I could only select reason and no area to provide reasoning or justification.
For some absence, I can see my daughter is marked absent twice for the same class and same subject by using code 1 or 11 which does not make sense as there is only one class for each subject per day so how she is absent twice from the same class if the class…1 voteGood morning,

With regards to the notification time of 4:40 pm, it would depend mostly on the time the teacher took attendance, 4:40 pm is an expected notification time.
With regards to a double absence, there are scenarios where courses occur over a double period, in that scenario attendance is taken twice for the same course/class. To investigate this further please contact the school, or submit a support request through the Help/Contact Us form at www.myfamilyroom.ca

Phone App able to stay logged in
It would be great to be able to stay logged in on the app on the phone- to further on that idea- have the option to have push notifications for new event/event reminders, snow days, etc.

Memo area
when reporting an absence it would be helpful to have a dropdown area where parents can elaborate further on the selected reason for absence.

Fix Absence tool
When you approve an absence after the fact, all you get is the wheel of death, you have to log out and log back in. Feature needs fixing. Also should have option to make note. Ex. my kid missed class because the school made a mistake, her absence was at the fault of the school.

It would be beneficial to have a link to your notifications, as I can't seem to be able to find my notifications?
As you log in, there are notifications for you, but, no link.

Make phone number spacing automatic
I should be able to type in my phone number without dashes. The system should be smart enough to know where they go.

Absent reason should include guidance counselor meetings/ called out of class for school testing.
I have received several calls saying my child was absent from classes but he was actually called out of class for testing from the guidance counselor. He was in school, reported to the classroom yet still marked absent.

Registration
Actually have a registration option that registers your child to the school you need. I've tried 3 times now to register my son to the school of his district but am told it never went through. I can't make it to the school during business hours so how else am I supposed to register him?

Having an additional late button to confirm notification
When you received notification that your child is absent, it would be beneficial to have either agree or not or have a late button. The child could be walking in when the announcements are being done, and the attendance has already been taken. Then the office can confirm with the teacher. Or have attendance taken ten minutes into the class.

Add a button for disputing the absentee record as the notice we have is false.
Our kid was not absent, the notice is incorrect. We need a button to send that information.

Changing contact information
Having one account per family? I am not able to change my husbands contact information for our children online? It will not permit me to do so, yet the school is stating we need to make the changes from home

Notifications for school absences only say Is this absence expected? Yes or No, how about adding a comment section. My daughter was not absent, the teacher simply did not ask who she was and she was sitting right there. I cannot get rid of these notifications unless I say yes or no but neither of these answers are correct.

Updating Contact Information
UCDSB schools are requesting parents log into MyFamilyRoom to update information from the Student Verification form but most of this information, such as place of employment or spouse's information does not even appear anywhere on MyFamilyRoom to even update in online. The system needs fixing or the schools need to be informed that parents cannot update the information on MyFamilyRoom.

Future development is ongoing, and this is still considered under review for future releases.
Office staff have been informed of what information can and cannot be updated through My Family Room for student verification.
Guardians can update specific information for themselves on their account, however, they cannot update another guardians information i.e. a spouse's information.

Absent comment section
Absent comment section is needed. My child was not absent, but the teacher was not there to report to for going to the homecoming game.I told him to just go to the office the next time there is no one to report to so that he avoids being listed as absent even though I had to report he was absent through this site.

Mark events read in the background
When marking events as read, don't block the entire events list with a spinner, handle the request in the background so I can continue to read and mark events

ability to remove a late notice if in error
It's easy to select more than one kid/wrong kid if you have more than one child listed on My family room - would be nice to be able to remove the notice if you make a mistake - or if circumstances change and they are going to be on time after all.

When confirming absences there should be a comment area where you can provide details such as child was called down to student services.
There should be a detail area where you can provide info about the absence or non- absence in some cases. I have had instances with both of my sons where I get notified that they missed a class and it has proven to be either the wrong student was marked (verified by teacher) or my son was called out of the class for a meeting with the guidance counsellor about course selection or another similar issue. I am sure that our family can't be the only one this happens to. If I say No I wasn't aware of the absence…
